COLSANITAS CUP, SEVEN YEARS GROWING UP WITH COLOMBIAN TENNIS |

Since 1993, the prepaid medicine company Colsanitas, and the Organización Sanitas Internacional (the organization where Colsanitas belongs to), decided to support colombian tennis and acquire a compromise with the tennis evolution and growing, becoming its US$10.000 tournament in a WTA Tour Tier IV-A one, as the one it is taking place this year. |

1993: the very first one Colsanitas Cup. Support rises |

It took place in the Academia Colombiana de Tenis, with tennis players from North, Center and South America. There were colombians like Carmiña Giraldo, Ximena Rodríguez and Cecilia Hincapié. |

1994: II Colsanitas Cup, Fabiola Zuluaga´s showcase |

It was the opportunity to show Fabiola Zuluaga´s conditions in a US$10.000 tournament, knowing that she had been playing junior tournaments. Organization gave her a Wild Card, then she worked hard until being finalist. |

1995: Colsanitas Cup began to grow |

|
Colsanitas began to work the idea of consolidate a female tennis team, and first it duplicated the prize money to give more opportunities to colombian players. It was the very first chance for them to play with María José Gaidano (Argentina), Luciana Tella and Andrea Vieira (Brazil), important tennis players. Fabiola Zuluaga got the second round and Ximena Rodríguez was finalist in doubles tournament. |

1996: Colsanitas Cup, once again for Colombia |

|
|
Colsanitas effort had its reward this time. The Colsanitas Cup became a US$50.000 tournament and by those days, title was for a colombian junior tennis player: Fabiola Zuluaga. Being 17 years old, this girl from the Colsanitas Team, won her second professional tournament playing against some of the best 150 tennis players around the world. |

1997: V Colsanitas Cup, a US$75.000 prize money was the threat |

|
|
Prize money and points were bigger by this time, and it made it better for some WTA experienced tennis players. It was the time Colsanitas entered to the ITF (International Tennis Federation) Circuit. Players from 5 continents, some of them were WTA Top-100, came to Colombia to fight for the Colsanitas Cup title. Fabiola Zuluaga and Carmiña Giraldo, from the Colsanitas Team, played for Colombia, overtaking first and second round, respectively. |

1998: Colsanitas Cup Corel WTA Tour |

|
|
|
It was the first of the WTA Tour played in Latin America, another Colsanitas´s big step. There were in Santa Fe de Bogotá D. C. some tennis players located between the 150 world ranking. Fabiola Zuluaga got third round and colombian junior, Mariana Mesa, got second round. |
